La Madone is a symbolic site of Saint-Polgues’ local cultural heritage. The Village de Polgues is also one of the town’s historic landmarks: it is a historic site and a listed historic monument in Saint-Polgues.
The parish church of Saint-Polgues stands on the site of a former chapel and contains the tombstone inscription of Antoine and Jean d’Augerolles. In Saint-Polgues, Chocolats Laberge is a manufacturer of chocolate, biscuits and confectionery.

Nature
The Viaduc de Saint-Polgues is currently closed to the public. The hiking trail at the Viaduc de Saint-Polgues follows the route of a former railway line and then leads to the banks of the Isable. It reaches its highest point at an altitude of 600 metres and offers panoramic views over the Roanne plain. The route begins at the car park below the church.
The Isable is a small river almost 27 kilometres long, whose source lies in the Monts de la Madeleine. The Viaduc de St Polgues is a railway heritage structure spanning the Isable gorges.
Geographical setting
The Château de Souternon, a castle, is located in the immediate vicinity of Saint-Polgues. Haut de Vitré Sud, Haut de Vitré Nord, Haut de Lamure and Bois de Combe-Malin are also nearby; all four are mountains.
The wider regional surroundings of Saint-Polgues include three other sites: the Château de Couzan is a ruin, Bonlieu Abbey is a historic site, and the Château de Cleppé is also a ruin.
