Saint-Laurent-Rochefort: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Saint-Laurent-Rochefort lies in the first foothills of the Forez, in a predominantly mountainous and wooded area reaching an elevation of 863 metres. Rochefort is an old fortified village on a rocky spur, overlooking the town centre with an elevation difference of 170 metres.

Culture and history

The parish church of Saint-Laurent was built from 1470 onwards and completed in 1496. Robin du Bost, a stonemason from Auvergne, is named as its builder.

The Saint-Médard-et-Saint-Loup chapel in Rochefort has a main construction phase dating back to the 12th century. Restoration work was carried out on the chapel in November 2003. It is one of the few remaining testimonies to Rochefort’s castle complex.

Landscape and nature

The valleys of the Ciboulet and the Tavel up to the Rochefort rock form a type 1 ZNIEFF, number 4203-2050.

Saint-Laurent-Rochefort is crossed by the four main watercourses Anzon, Dardannet, Ciboulet and Leveaux. The Anzon is a tributary of the Lignon; Leveaux is also known as Livaud or Tavel. The municipality also borders the Aubègue.
