Saint-Haon-Le-Vieux: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Landscape

The municipality is divided into three landscape areas: a plain with livestock farming, a slope with vineyards and residential areas, and a mountainous area to the west. The municipality's wine production has been part of the AOC Côte Roannaise since 1994.

Trails and nature

The Circuit des Pierres Saint Martin is an 11-kilometre route for hiking, horse riding and mountain biking. Along the La Clef des Champs walk, information panels provide details about local agriculture; the car park for La Clef des Champs is located at the Place de l'Église.

Les Pierres Saint Martin are a natural attraction consisting of around ten irregularly shaped rocks of different sizes. The rocks are associated with legends about Saint Martin and his donkey dating from the 19th century. Les Pierres Saint Martin can be visited individually or in groups at any time, free of charge and independently.

History and culture

Today, only the ruins of the Château de Beaucresson remain; the château was surrounded by wide moats. The Château de Beaucresson was built in the Middle Ages by a family of lords from Saint-Haon-le-Châtel.

The restoration of the Saint-Abonde Church was completed in 2025. The Saint-Abonde Church is open all year round for individual visits and group visits.

The Lavoir d'Arfeuillette washhouse was one of seven washhouses that the municipality had built in the 1920s. It was restored by the municipality at the request of the Patrimoine et Culture association and can be visited individually at any time, free of charge and independently.

The Oratoire is a replica of the Grotto of Lourdes, built in the 19th century on the initiative of Abbé Seguin. Pilgrims visited the Oratoire to celebrate the feast on 15 August.
