The Puits Couriot – Musée de la Mine is a significant building listed as a monument historique, commemorating Saint-Étienne’s mining history. The Musée d’Art et d’Industrie houses three technical collections of national and international importance relating to weapons, bicycles and ribbons.

The Cité du design is located on the former site of the Manufacture royale d’armes de Saint-Étienne and has been a centre of excellence since 2005. At the Cité du design, La Platine welcomes visitors with themed exhibitions, monographic exhibitions and educational areas. The Galerie nationale du design presents a major exhibition every year and offers guided and self-guided tours.

The Ville d’art et d’histoire programme in Saint-Étienne offers activities accessible to individual visitors all year round, including tours, sports walks, workshops, meetings and performances. The “Sainté balades” guide contains 17 urban and themed routes ranging from 4.5 to 22 kilometres.
