Pralong: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
The Sentier découverte des 2 pics was created jointly by Champdieu and Pralong and can begin in Pralong at the foot of Pic Griot. The trail is 10.92 kilometres long and easy; it is said to take around three hours. Along the way, informative and interactive panels explain the local fauna and flora, as well as the history, culture, ecology and geography of the area crossed.
Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Pralong can include this accommodation preference in their travel planning.
Nature
The dry basalt grasslands on Puy de Griot, managed by the Conservatoire d'espaces naturels Rhône-Alpes, are home to the turquoise Mediterranean burnet moth, which occurs in the Loire only in these habitats. Basalt organ pipes and dry grasslands can be discovered on the way to Pic Griot.
A cross erected in 1933 marks a viewpoint with a 360-degree panorama over the plain and the Forez Mountains. The path leads to the protected basalt site of La Madone. An information board at La Madone points out the Ruillat Valley, the vineyards of the Côtes du Forez, Champdieu and the Forez plain.
Hiking and cycling
For mountain biking, the Entre Ruillat et Pralong circular route is 19.5 kilometres long, difficult and signposted with black VTT-FFC markings.
Culture
The Church of Saint-Romain was first mentioned in writing in 1225; the parish was subordinate to the nearby Benedictine priory of Champdieu.
Château de Chalain is located in the immediate vicinity of Pralong. The surrounding area of Pralong also includes the Château d'Essertines-en-Châtelneuf castle ruins, the historic site of Bonlieu Abbey, the Château de Couzan castle ruins, Mont Semiol, Pic de Montverdun, Pic de Chaudabry and Pic de Bard.
