Culture
The Château d’Origny was built in the 16th century by Jean Donguy between Ouches and Villerest. After standing vacant for many years, it was restored stone by stone in 2008.
The Château d’Origny offers five rooms and suites overlooking the park.
The Église Romane preserves a Romanesque section that belonged to the former castle chapel. The church was remodelled in 1856. It also contains an octagonal holy-water stoup dating from the 14th century.
The Église Romane can be visited individually and free of charge on request.
History
The Château d’Ouches has been mentioned in historical records since around 1107. Among the surviving remains is an impressive tower from the 16th century. A fireplace from the early 16th century is located on the second floor of the Château d’Ouches.
In 1826, the Académie de Médecine de Paris recognised the therapeutic value of the Origny spring and recommended its use.
