Culture and History

The Romanesque church tower of Cleppé contains one of the oldest bells in Forez; it dates from 1446. The oldest part of the Église de la Nativité de la Vierge dates from around the year 1000. The Tour de Cleppé is the only surviving tower of the former Château de Cleppé.

The ruins of the Château de Cleppé are located in the immediate vicinity of Cleppé. In the surroundings of Cleppé are the ruins of the Château de Salt-en-Donzy, the Château de Chalain as a castle, and Bonlieu Abbey as a historical site.
