Ville-En-Sallaz: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Ville-en-Sallaz stretches across an elevation ranging from 610 to 1,220 metres. Between ancient traces, religious buildings, Lac du Môle and the imposing Le Môle, the area reveals many different sides. When staying in Ville-en-Sallaz, renting a holiday apartment may be at the heart of your travel plans.

Geographical setting

The Chemin du Raffort is a small, unassuming path that separates the municipalities of Ville-en-Sallaz and La Tour.

Nature

Lac du Môle lies between Ville-en-Sallaz and La Tour. The artificial lake was created in 1969 by excavating a former marshland. Water lilies at Lac du Môle provide a habitat for fish, frogs and herons. PAYSALP offers the fun-filled “Dis-moi le lac” tour there.

The “Walk around the Mole's Lake” trail is an easy 2.6-kilometre loop with a walking time of 25 minutes. The loop has a car park, free parking, a picnic area and public toilets.

History

The Villa des Tattes was inhabited from the 1st to the 3rd century AD and covered approximately 2,300 square metres. Archaeological excavations at the Villa des Tattes uncovered pottery, roof tiles and bricks.

Culture

The Chapelle de Prévières is dedicated to Saint François de Sales and was built in 1683 by Ambroise Broise, a villager of that time. It also commemorates a miracle attributed to François de Sales from 1606: while praying to the Virgin Mary, rosaries are said to have multiplied.

The Church of Saint-Pancrace-et-Sébastien in Ville-en-Sallaz is dedicated to Saints Pancrace and Sébastien and has a bulbous tower typical of the region. Beneath the church is an older church, probably built on an ancient Roman site.

Mountains

Le Môle rises to 1,863 metres and towers over Ville-en-Sallaz. In the region, the ascent of Le Môle is considered a moderately difficult classic hike and offers a 360-degree panorama of the Jura, Lake Geneva, the Mont Blanc massif, the mountain ranges of the Bargy, Aravis and Chablais, as well as the Salève.
