Culture and History
The new Eglise Saint Maurice was consecrated by Bishop Turinaz on 1 May 1875. Its single-nave structure combines Romanesque windows, round-arched vaults and Gothic ribs with a polygonal Gothic choir. The church also contains an 18th-century painting depicting Saint Cecilia.
The Chapelle Saint Jaquemoz stood on a former Roman road that was used as a provincial road until the beginning of the 19th century. Until the 17th century, it was Thénésol’s first church. The chapel was restored in 2010; near the Chapelle Saint Jaquemoz there is a marble plaque with the epitaph C 2347.
