Nature
The Réserve naturelle de Sixt-Fer-à -Cheval/Passy covers 9,445 hectares and includes Sixt-Fer-à -Cheval and Passy.
The area comprises cliffs, high-altitude lakes, beech forests, alpine grasslands, limestone pavements, mixed forests, ponds and peat bogs.
In the Cirque du Fer-Ã -Cheval, more than 30 waterfalls plunge from the cliffs in spring.

Hiking and via ferrata
The hiking trail through the Gorges des Tines is approximately 2 kilometres long, takes about 60 minutes and involves 180 metres of ascent.
The Via Ferrata du Mont runs along the southern side, overlooks the Gorges des Tines and includes, among other features, an exposed suspension bridge and a ladder.
The Refuge et alpage des Fonts hike is a circular route lasting 3 hours and 15 minutes.
The hiking trail to the Cascade du Rouget begins at the Nant Sec car park at the exit of Salvagny and leads to the foot of the waterfall.
A family-friendly forest walk leads to the hamlet of Le Mont, with its typical Savoyard architecture.
Culture and orientation
Parts of the Ancienne abbaye de Sixt have been protected as a Monument historique following an entry issued on 17 February 1997.
The Abbaye de Sixt-Fer-Ã -Cheval is a 12th-century abbey that hosts a themed exhibition every summer.
The Chapelle du Mont is a 17th-century chapel in the hamlet of Le Mont. It was founded on 9 January 1621 under the patronage of Saint Bernard of Menthon.
The Chapelle des Fonts is a 17th-century alpine chapel built in 1681.
The Maison de la Réserve Naturelle is a museographic space dedicated to the Réserve naturelle de Sixt-Fer-à -Cheval/Passy and welcomes groups by prior reservation.
The Maison de la Montagne in the village centre is the central point of contact for visitors to Sixt-Fer-Ã -Cheval.
The Chapelle des Fonts can only be reached on foot or by mountain bike from the end of the hamlet of Salvagny.
Winter
The Sixt-Fer-Ã -Cheval ski area is connected to the Grand Massif by the 14-kilometre-long blue Cascades piste.
