History and Culture

Scionzier is home to a fortified house within its municipal territory, commonly known as the Château de Scionzier; several parts of it are classified as historic monuments.

The history of the Château de Scionzier is closely linked to the history of Faucigny. A pottery workshop was established in the Château de Scionzier.

Industry and River

The Usine Alpex is an industrial building dating from 1913. It was formerly specialized in precision turning. The former Usine Alpex underwent a renovation and extension project with the aim of transforming it into a cultural center and media library.

The Foron River runs through Scionzier. Its water power was used to generate electricity and operate machinery for watchmaking and, later, precision turning.

Nature

The new Parc du Château offers an unobstructed view of the Château de Scionzier.

Cultural Offerings and Events

On-site use of the Médiathèque de Scionzier is free of charge and open to everyone. Every month, the Médiathèque de Scionzier offers free events for young and old, open to all.

Musiques en Stock was revived in Scionzier in 2022. It was always held outdoors in the center of Scionzier.
