Nature

Novel’s natural heritage includes the classified area of the Cornettes de Bise and Dent d’Oche massif. Lac de Neuteu is a mountain lake situated at an altitude of 1,780 m near the Chalets de Neuteu in the municipality of Novel.

Trails

The GR® Balcon du Léman is one of the many hiking trails that pass through Novel. The long-distance hiking trail GR®5 also passes through the village of Novel. Novel can be reached from Saint-Gingolph via the D30.

Culture

Novel’s rustic church has a bell tower that has preserved its traditional style. Novel is also home to a small 19th-century oratory.

The Chapelle des bergers in the hamlet of Revers was built in 1880. The Chapelle Notre Dame du Pardon in Novel is also known as the “Chapel of the Shepherds”.

Every year on 15 August, Novel hosts a hunting horn festival.

Local life

At the Alpage de Neuvaz restaurant, guests can sample locally produced terroir products, including cheese and cured meats. At the Alpage de Neuvaz, visitors are introduced to the practices, traditions and daily life of the alpine pastures by prior reservation.

By prior reservation and depending on the weather conditions, visitors can observe the animals at the Alpage de Neuvaz and watch the milking at around 5 p.m.
