Culture

Lovagny Church is documented in a cartulary dating from 1029 or 1040 and is mentioned in a papal bull from 1107.

At Château de Montrottier, the oldest part, the Tour des Religieuses, dates from the 13th century. The Logis des Chevaliers, the Logis des Comtes and the salle des Gardes were built in the 14th century, while the keep was built in the 15th century.

Château de Montrottier also houses a cabinet of curiosities with collections from all periods and from various parts of the world. The themes range from music, games, clothing and furnishings to the art of war and table culture, as well as leisure and childhood.

Nature

Montagne d’Age reaches an altitude of 672 metres and is predominantly covered with deciduous trees such as beech, oak and chestnut. It is a 250-hectare natural area in the municipalities of Lovagny, Nonglard, Poisy and Sillingy, with remarkable habitats, interesting flora and rare, protected fauna.

Montagne d’Age can be reached on foot from Lovagny. It offers easy and varied walks in every season.

The Circuit des Dromettes is an approximately one-hour circular walk in the lower part of Lovagny. The route passes through woodland and, along its upper section, through fields.

The Chemin des Châteaux is a 2.3-kilometre walking route starting in Lovagny. It has an elevation gain of 60 metres, takes 1 hour and 15 minutes, and is rated “very easy”.

The Gorges du Fier can be crossed via a footbridge attached to the rock face, 25 metres above the river.

Golf

At Golf de Montrottier, a practice facility, three holes and a mini-golf course are available near the clubhouse.
