A distinctive cultural feature of La Baume is the organ in the Notre-Dame de l’Immaculée Conception church. It dates from 1872 and is classified as a historic monument.
Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in La Baume can save the village as a destination in its own right.
Culture
The Notre Dame de Lourdes Grotto is carved into the rock and is located by the roadside on the road to La Goutreuse, just outside the village centre. There is a chapel in the hamlet of Le Promerat. The “Circuit patrimoine de La Baume” cultural trail leads to the village’s religious heritage sites: the church, the chapel of Le Promerat, several wayside shrines and the Notre Dame de Lourdes Grotto.
The Église de l’Immaculée Conception de La Baume is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception and was built in the 19th century. Individual, self-guided visits to the Église de l’Immaculée Conception de La Baume are possible on request. The “Circuit patrimoine de La Baume” begins at the cemetery car park near the grotto.
Nature
The Seytrouset alpine pasture can be reached via larger paths. The “Le bord de la Dranse” trail runs through the forest beside the water. There, the Dranse forms wide meanders, and access is very easy.
Hiking Routes
The “Balade au Nant de la Scie” is an easy 2.0-kilometre circular hike with a walking time of approximately 30 minutes and 71 metres of ascent and descent respectively. The route crosses the Nant de la Scie twice before reaching the hamlet of La Goutreuse.
The “Randonnée pédestre: de hameaux en villages” hiking route also passes through La Baume.
