Culture and History
The Church of Saint Peter is the oldest church in the Vallée Verte and is already mentioned in a papal bull from February 1180. It was built on Roman ruins. Since 28 November 2024, it has been closed to the public by order of the mayor due to a structural risk.
The traditional furnishings include a bell dating from 1785 and a 14th-century fresco of the Annunciation; both are classified as movable historic monuments. Saint Peter’s also has a polychrome and gilded high altar from the third quarter of the 19th century, carved choir stalls from the same period, and a Stations of the Cross from 1830 with oil paintings on canvas.
The ruins of Habère-Lullin Castle originate from a Gothic building commissioned by the Marquis de Lullin in the 15th century. Today, only a few sections of the walls of Habère-Lullin Castle and a monument erected in memory of the young people who went missing remain.
Getting There
By car, Habère-Lullin can be reached via Exit 15 of the A40 (E712), followed by the D20, the D22 towards Villard and the D12. Travel by train is possible via TGV or TER connections to Annecy, Geneva, Annemasse, Bonneville or Cluses; from there, continue by bus.
Paths and Bodies of Water
The Chemin de l'alpage is a 6.5 km themed trail with 330 metres of elevation gain and a stated duration of 150 minutes. Along the route, eight stations with information boards provide information about life on the alpine pasture and related local topics.
The very difficult hike “Les Balcons du Léman en Vallée Verte” starts at the church car park in Habère-Lullin. It is 36 km long, has 1,130 metres of elevation gain and a stated duration of 540 minutes.
Lac de la Crossetaz is a first-category body of water. Fly fishing is possible there, and brown trout and rainbow trout can also be found; there is also a family fishing course. The 1.2 km-long fitness trail at La Crossetaz is located beside the Menoge River and the La Crossetaz fishing pond. There is also a botanical educational trail there.
Winter and Further Activities
“À tire d’elles vers les sommets” is a guided snowshoe hike in winter at 1570 route de la Tête du Char in Habère-Lullin. The tour covers approximately 10 km, around 500 metres of elevation gain and roughly five hours of walking.
