The Graydon alpine pasture features flower-rich mountain meadows and protected fauna, particularly chamois, within the Natura 2000 network. The chalets of the Graydon alpine pasture reflect traditional Savoyard architecture. From Essert-Romand, there are views of Montriond and the surrounding mountains.
Hiking and Cycling
The “At the Foot of Roc d’Enfer” hike is a 12.0 km loop that starts in Essert-Romand at the Graydon car park. From Col Ratti, the route offers views of Mont Blanc and the Aravis range. The Graydon site can be reached by car in summer via the municipality of Essert-Romand.
The cycling stage to Col de l’Encrenaz is an easy 6.0 km one-way route. Alpes Equitation offers horseback rides and trail rides year-round, ranging from two hours to six days, privately or in groups, for beginners and experienced riders aged six and over.
Culture and History
In 1824, Essert-Romand was elevated to an independent parish under the patronage of Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague. In 1836, this parish, founded in 1824, comprised a completed church, a presbytery and outbuildings. Numerous pastoral masses are celebrated at the Chapelle de Graydon during the warmer months.
Local Specialties
Les Délices d’Alpage is located in Essert-Romand and produces prepared alpine foods such as terrines, soups, veloutés, stews and rillettes, among other products.
