The Fillière borders Argonay to the south. Anyone choosing Argonay as a travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment there.
Nature
Below the hamlet of Gruyère, walking paths run along the Fier and the Fillière. Numerous footpaths also cross the forest of Argonay.
The Parc à daims is located on the Route de la Vouettaz. Around ten fallow deer live there and can be seen clearly all year round. The paths along the banks of the Fier and the Fillière include small beaches, picnic areas and benches. The leisure area on the Fier features numerous paths, picnic tables, benches and access points to the river.
Activities
Near the clinic, there is a botanical educational trail managed by the Office National des Forêts, allowing families to discover the local flora.
The pump track in Argonay is freely accessible to bicycles, scooters and skateboards—except those with hard wheels—and is intended for all age groups. A booklet featuring several walking routes is available free of charge at Argonay Town Hall.
The Route du Gros-Chêne is closed to motorised traffic and provides a connection to the municipality of Filière (Saint Martin Bellevue); bicycles are permitted only uphill.
Culture
The Château du Barioz was built before 1379. This fortified Savoyard house has preserved round towers and an entrance gate.
The Église Saint-Christophe retains the appearance of a rural church from the late Middle Ages and was rebuilt in the early 15th century. The Chapelle Desjardins is a Neo-Romanesque funerary chapel made of dressed stone, built in 1896.
Events
Argonay’s traditional Apple Festival takes place on the last Sunday in September. In March, the Festiv’AAMA is also on the calendar, a two-day festive music festival.
