Salles-Sous-Bois: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The historic center of Salles-sous-Bois includes numerous houses from the 14th and 15th centuries, vaulted structures, Renaissance windows on some façades, a washhouse, and a restored priory.

Nature
The “Taulignan par la route des lièvres” hike begins in the car park next to the town hall. It is marked in yellow, covers 16 kilometers, and takes around five hours, not including a visit to Taulignan.
Another hike, “La Berre,” crosses the Berre at a ford and then follows an unpaved path alongside truffle groves and lavender fields. Numerous forest paths make it possible to discover an old Celtic track that later became the medieval road from Taulignan to La Bégude-de-Mazenc.
History
The public washhouse on Grande rue was completed on September 22, 1893. The washhouse in Salles-sous-Bois, its fountain, and the entire premises were completely restored in 1999.
The fortifications of Salles-sous-Bois now remain only as traces or rare isolated remnants. The partially preserved remains of the former south gate include two horizontal loopholes that served as an additional defensive feature. The former south gate can be reached from Rue du Four and Montée Saint-Roch via a zigzagging access path.
The façade of the 16th-century house at 22 Grande rue has preserved its original integrity.
Sacred Sites
The Sainte-Marie-Madeleine Chapel, documented since the late 14th century, became the parish church of Salles-sous-Bois. The Sainte-Marie-Madeleine Church is open every day year-round; for specific events or religious ceremonies, visitors should inquire with the municipal administration.
A new temple was built in 1884, around 150 years after the first temple was demolished. Once a year, in August, Salles-sous-Bois also holds a procession in honor of Saint Roch. During the procession, his statue is carried through the village while hymns are sung.
Local Character
Two major beekeepers produce honey in the Salles-sous-Bois area. Maurice and Marie-Jeanne Barbanson sell it to private customers at their property; Mr. and Mrs. Long sell it in the Bousquatier district.
