Pont-De-Barret: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Notre-Dame-la-Brune overlooks the Roubion Valley. The church was classified as a historic monument by decree of 9 September 1908.

Culture

The Old Bridge of Pont-de-Barret, the Vieux pont, has two semicircular arches resting on a massive central pier. Its oldest masonry consists of regularly laid rubble stones characteristic of Gallo-Roman structures. From the Vieux pont, remains of a medieval fortification can be seen below the Vierge du Voeu.

The medieval fortification of Pont-de-Barret, located on an elevated site, was destroyed at the end of the 14th century; its ruins are still preserved in the village. The name Notre-Dame-la-Brune is said to be associated with a Black Madonna venerated in the village of Pont-de-Barret, which was already mentioned from 886 onwards. In antiquity, Pont-de-Barret was a Gallo-Roman settlement called Savenna.

Le Quai is an exhibition venue in the former Moulinage facilities and is regularly opened to the public.

Geographical setting

The Roubion divides Pont-de-Barret: on one side are the Romanesque church and a few houses, while on the other lies the elevated old village.

Nature

A balcony trail runs along the Montagne de Sainte-Euphémie, offering commanding views over the plain. From there, you can reach the Belvédère des Fours, just a few metres away, and admire the landscape in a 180° panorama.

The Roubion near Pont-de-Barret features riparian forests with white poplars and narrow-leaved ash trees, willow thickets, and a diverse river fauna. Due to its biological richness, the river is recognised as a European natural heritage site.

Activities

At the Roubion in Pont-de-Barret, visitors can swim or walk along the river. The orange-coloured Eson rock face is suitable for winter climbing thanks to its excellent orientation and offers unobstructed views of the hills of the Rhône Valley.
