Etang de Montmiral et ruisseau de la Savasse is a type 1 continental ZNIEFF area in the municipality of Montmiral. The area is used by walkers and anglers and serves educational activities.

The Etang de Montmiral is a fishing pond created in 1990. Information boards about the local flora and fauna are located at the pond; dragonflies, amphibians and waterbirds can be found there. The Forêt de Thivolet is a wooded massif where the Savasse rises. It comprises humid, cool and peat-rich habitats considered to be of particular ecological value.

Trails

The hike De Montmiral à la Joyeuse passes through the landscape around Montmiral, from hollows to ridges, with sections in the forest and along the riverbank. It is signposted with yellow PR trail markings.

The Tour de Pays de la Drôme des Collines passes through a heavily forested section and returns to the Drôme at Montmiral.
