The Château de Montchenu has been protected as a French historic monument since 1979. It is located at a strategic point on an old medieval castle hill site and dates from the 15th and 16th centuries. The Château féodal (MH), also known as Château de Montchenu, is privately owned.

Culture and History
On the hill at the foot of the château stands the Vierge du Vœu statue. It was erected following a promise made in August 1944 and inaugurated in 1961. The Montchenu manor house was built in two construction phases in the 16th and 18th centuries. Its distinguishing features are a square tower and a tall four-sided roof in the Dauphiné style.
The former Château de Montchenu complex was surrounded by three rings of fortifications with battlements, dating from the 9th and 11th centuries.
Tours and Trails
The cultural and landscape trail “Montchenu, patrimoine & paysages” comprises nine stops over 1.2 km. It leads to the remains of three former lordly residences, which bear witness to the political and social life from the Middle Ages through the early modern period.
The signposted circular trail “Montchenu au cœur des collines” is 4.16 km long, moderately difficult, and takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. It begins in the village square and leads via Pichon towards Château de Montchenu.
Landscape
The remarkable oak of Montchenu is three centuries old. From the esplanade, the “Montchenu au cœur des collines” circular trail offers a panorama extending from the rocks of the Vercors across the Vivarais to the Pilat.
Local Life
Ferme Les Pins offers guided visits for individuals and groups by prior arrangement. Directly from the farm, it sells traditional poultry, eggs, asparagus, apricot nectar, and apricot jam.
