Mirmande combines historic character with signposted paths through the countryside. The village has been one of the “Plus Beaux Villages de France” since 1998 and preserves a labyrinth of streets and lanes lined with historic houses, some featuring impressive, richly detailed architecture. Culture and History
One of the notable buildings is the Sainte-Foy Church in Mirmande. It dates from the 12th century, is protected as a historic monument and is considered an example of Romanesque architecture. The Chapelle Sainte-Lucie was built in 1887–1888 as part of a public subscription, in which mainly believers from Mirmande took part.
Crafts and the village's lanes are still part of its character today. The Atelier Céramique Chantal Ferroussier permanently offers an exhibition and sales gallery at 1 Grande Rue in Mirmande. In addition, Mirmande can be explored on a walk through its numerous picturesque medieval lanes.
Paths and Tours
Two signposted circular routes starting and ending in Mirmande are available for mountain bike tours: the “Tour de Mallivert” is 13.67 kilometres long and rated moderately difficult. “Les quatre crêtes de Mirmande” covers 23.19 kilometres and is considered very difficult.
The “Balcon du Rhône” hiking route is 11.08 kilometres long, has 520 metres of elevation gain, takes 4 hours and 1 minute, and is rated fairly difficult. It leads from Mirmande over the mountain ridges to the picturesque hamlet of Platet and then back through the village's lanes.
Local Area
The Marché de Mirmande is a regular food market held year-round on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Farmers in Mirmande offer an insight into the village's agricultural produce and invite visitors to discover the fruit grown there: cherries, peaches, apricots, nectarines, mirabelle plums and kiwis.
