Miribel: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

History

The Maison dite Château de Miribel is located in the hamlet of Deveau in Miribel, in the Drôme département. It originated as the former maison-forte de Vaux, which was frequently mentioned in the 16th century. In the salon, with its wall-hanging or panoramic wallpaper decoration and dado area, parts have been protected as a historic monument by a decree dated 29 March 2005.

The tower is the only surviving remnant of Miribel’s former seigneurial castle. Together with some surviving residential remains from the 15th and 16th centuries, it suggests that the original centre of Miribel was located in the Carrière district. The tower is thought to date from the 13th century.

The former Notre-Dame-de-Pitié chapel is mentioned in a 14th-century will and is included in the Sacred Route in the Drôme des Collines. It preserves two small pointed-arch windows, as well as paintings bearing the coats of arms of the Beaumont family.

Culture

La Maison Rose Miribel makes functional and decorative stoneware pieces. Its workshop opens for ceramic sessions during which visitors can make their own pieces. The sessions last two or three hours, can be chosen freely, and do not require an annual commitment.

Nature

Miribel’s elevated position offers exceptional panoramic views. Walnut orchards characterize the landscape around Miribel and in the Herbasse area.

The Autour de l'Herbasse hiking trail follows paths and roads through hills and woodland. Along the way, panoramic views open up over the Herbasse Valley and the villages of Miribel and Saint-Bonnet-de-Valclérieux.

Getting There

The final few minutes of the journey to Miribel lead along small, narrow but well-maintained roads through the hills. There is no regular public transport connection to the village of Miribel.
