History and culture

Mirabel once had three fortifications; parts of two of them can still be seen on two sides of the village. Château de Grignan and the historic site of Abbaye de Bouchet are located in the wider region around Mirabel-aux-Baronnies. The Tour de l'Horloge church is nearby. A bell from the Saint-Julien et Saint-Victor church in Mirabel-aux-Baronnies was classified as a protected object on 6 November 1995.

The private Chapelle de Beaulieu, dating from the 11th century, can only be visited during religious services and on Heritage Days.

Things to do locally

On Thursday mornings, itinerant traders offer their goods in the square in the town centre and in front of Mirabel-aux-Baronnies town hall. There is also a treasure hunt through the historic centre, with different puzzles for children aged 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 9 to 12.

Since 1971, Moulin à Huile de Chameil has been producing olive oil in Mirabel-aux-Baronnies. It offers AOC Nyons olive oil, Verdale oil and regional products. In its old cellar, Domaine Martin Roux offers the discovery and tasting of AOP Nyons olive oils and/or oils made from the Tanche variety. Free tastings in the presence of winegrowers and wine festivals were planned for the summer at the Maison des Vins et du Tourisme.

Getting around

The 90-kilometre Route de l'Olivier en Baronnies begins and ends in Nyons and can be travelled by car, bicycle or motorbike; the producers listed in Mirabel-aux-Baronnies are Domaine des Arches, Domaine Martin Roux and Moulin à Huile de Chameil.
