Culture and History
The Église Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul is a Romanesque church dating from the 11th and 12th centuries; it preserves a three-part Benedictine choir ending modelled on that of Cluny. It is open to the public year-round from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The centrally located apse of the Romanesque Eglise de Manthes is illuminated by a 14th-century stained-glass window depicting the Apostles Peter and Paul. The bell tower and the entire choir area of the Eglise de Manthes have been listed as Monuments historiques since 1932.
The Prieuré de Mantol was dependent on Cluny in the 11th century and housed between three and six monks. To visit the Prieuré de Manthes, contact the Association des Amis du Prieuré.
The Prieuré Saint-Pierre de Manthes, first mentioned in the 11th century, has preserved its church and a convent building rebuilt in the 15th and 16th centuries. The Prieuré de Manthes features painted coffered ceilings and trompe-l’œil paintings from the late 16th and early 17th centuries.

Nature
The Lavoir de Manthes, built in the 19th century, is located on the lakeshore and is fed by water from the Veuze.

Trails and Games
L’étang magique is a signposted, moderately difficult circular hiking trail covering 7.16 km, beginning and ending in Manthes. The stated duration is 2 hours 30 minutes.
L’étang magique runs between open countryside and woodland and is described as a family-friendly hike. In spring, visitors can experience blossoming pear orchards; in summer, the coolness of the undergrowth and the springs of the Veuze.
Along the family-friendly route of the L’étang magique circular trail, there are playful and informative signs.
The interactive puzzle game “Alix le caloptéryx” leads through Manthes Park and incorporates the character Alix as the park’s guardian. It can be downloaded free of charge via the Baludik app, takes about an hour, and is aimed at children aged five and over.
