Culture
The Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste was built between 1892 and 1907. Its bell tower is 48 metres high and houses three bells, including the Bourdon bell “Jean-Baptiste”, which weighs more than 1,500 kilograms.
The Chapelle de Châtenay welcomes visitors during the annual Journées du Patrimoine and by appointment. Every year on 15 August, a pilgrimage in honour of Notre Dame de Châtenay takes place at the chapel.
The Château du Double has been partly classified and partly listed as a Monument historique since 30 May 1978; the protection is partial. The Château du Double is privately owned. Visits to the estate are possible by appointment.
Mills and Regional Products
The Moulin de Lens-Lestang is several centuries old and is already shown on 18th-century Cassini maps. A one-hour guided tour of the restored Moulin de Lens-Lestang presents the mechanics of flour production from wheat across four levels.
During the annual Journées françaises des Moulins in May and the Journées du Patrimoine in September, the Moulin de Lens-Lestang hosts a small farmers’ market offering walnuts, pognes and other regional products.
Hiking
“Le tour des plateaux” is a signposted 16.9-kilometre hiking trail that starts and ends in Lens-Lestang. It crosses the Plateau des Feydaux through forests and fields and is available every day all year round.
The “Du plateau des Feytaux aux Terres Blanches” hike is a 14.05-kilometre walk of moderate difficulty. It runs along the moraines above Lens-Lestang through wooded and open sections and offers views of the Monts du Pilat, the Ardèche and the Beaurepaire plain.
