Culture and History

La Baume-Cornillane adopted Protestantism as early as the 16th century. The medieval village developed around an early Christian church that became a Cluniac priory of Marcigny under the patronage of Saint Stephen. La Baume-Cornillane also preserves an exceptional historic site featuring a feudal village.

The history of the Protestant temple includes its bell: it bears an inscription from 1647 and was recast in 1880. On 5 July 1943, it was classified as a protected object.
