Ferrassières: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The lavender landscape of Ferrassières includes almond trees, jas, sheepfolds, and dry-stone bories, which provide shelter for shepherds and, in some cases, their flocks.

Cycling

The La route de la Lavande cycling route leads to Ferrassières; there, lavender fields line the route. La route de la Lavande is a marked 126.35 km circular route for cycling, rated very difficult.

Culture and history

The Château de la Gabelle in Ferrassières is a Provençal château dating from the 13th century and is connected with Protestant history in the Dauphiné. Its name refers to the former salt tax once levied in the region; the building is also considered a rare architectural feature. At the Château de la Gabelle, organic cultivation of lavender, lavandin, and einkorn wheat is combined with organically produced honey and an on-site farm shop.

The Church of Saint Julien de la Brioude in Ferrassières is a recently restored 17th-century church with Romanesque features.

Farms and products

Ho! Bouquet de Lavande has a farm shop offering lavender and lavandin products, immortelle, honey, einkorn, chickpeas, and eggs produced on the farm and sold directly. It also offers a tour through the lavender fields with explanations of the profession of lavender farmer, various lavender varieties and their uses, as well as a demonstration of distillation using a model still.
