Crest: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The former keep of the Tour de Crest was classified as a historic monument by decree on June 6, 1877. Hundreds of graffiti inscriptions on the Tour de Crest bear witness to the suffering or hopes of former prisoners. Culture and History

The Porte de Montségur dates from the 14th century, is also known as the Porte Saint-André or Porte des Écus du Diable, and is the only surviving one of Crest’s seven gates. Ten Capuchin friars now live in the Couvent des Capucins; it can be visited during the European Heritage Days.

Events and Art

Crest’s Fête Médiévale has taken place every year since 2006 over the Pentecost weekend. It includes demonstrations, workshops on historic craft techniques, contemporary camp re-enactments, a medieval arts and crafts market, performances, and concerts.

The Crest Jazz Festival is an annual week of concerts held in late July or early August. The Centre d’art in Crest hosts three to four temporary exhibitions each year and offers individual visitors, groups, and school classes guided tours, guided visits, workshops, and lectures.

The « Mémoire de l’eau » themed walking route follows the Drôme, passes fountains and washhouses, runs along former canals, and explores traces of a prehistoric sea.

The Les Roches hike follows ridges behind the Tour de Crest and offers panoramic views of the Vercors mountains, the Trois Becs, and the Plateau ardéchois.
