Water and Nature
At Pas des Ondes, the smaller of the two artificial bodies of water is intended for swimming and the larger one for fishing. There are two fishing piers at Pas des Ondes; one of them is accessible to people with reduced mobility. Parking and access to the waters of Pas des Ondes are subject to a fee in July and August.
The wildlife has also been specifically documented: 33 species of dragonflies and damselflies were recorded at Pas des Ondes over a period of 30 years.
Culture and History
The Sentier d’art du Pas des Ondes is a free, publicly accessible walking trail featuring contemporary land art installations connected with the landscapes, culture and local stories.
The Église Saint-Michel is a parish church dating from the late 12th century, which was associated with the former Benedictine priory of Saint-May. It has a Romanesque nave divided into three bays and covered by a barrel vault, as well as a bell-cote with two bells dating from 1624 and 1892. The church also contains a 17th-century painting depicting Saint Michael defeating the dragon.
The Château de Cornillon-sur-l'Oule was probably built between 1242 and 1268 as a hilltop castle with an approximately triangular layout, two semicircular towers and a square tower. It is considered one of the most impressive examples of Provençal comital rule. Between the 13th and 15th centuries, this rule controlled a group of seigneuries in the Oule Valley known as the “claverie de l'Oule”.
Village and Landscape
The Place des Corneilles forms the centre of the old village and is lined by a large washhouse built in 1935. The Bollènes district can be reached via a passageway starting southeast of the Place des Corneilles and offers a view over the valley from the village.
