Charpey developed in a circular layout around its original castle and was protected by massive fortification walls. The surviving traces of the fortifications include houses with mullioned windows and ruined towers.

The Romanesque Church of Saint-Didier-de-Charpey has a 12th-century façade made of molasse and tuff, as well as a single portal with a double archivolt.
In the 12th century, it was initially under the authority of the Benedictines of Lyon and later became dependent on Léoncel.
The Church of Saint-Nicolas stands above the village on the former castle mound. It has an Alpine-style bell tower, rebuilt in the 19th century.

The Golf Club de Valence Saint-Didier extends over 50 hectares at the foot of the Vercors and has an 18-hole course. Regional specialities can be sampled in the clubhouse.
