Chamaret: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Tour de Chamaret is the last surviving evidence of the original feudal fortress, which was built between the 12th and 14th centuries. Today, the tower offers a remarkable view of the surrounding landscape. Self-guided visits without a tour guide are permanently possible at the Tour de Chamaret. Remains of the medieval town fortifications have also been preserved in Chamaret, while two former fortified gates still stand in the village.

Culture and History
The Chapelle Saint-Barthélémy was relocated from the site of the tower to the former road to Grignan, which is now called chemin de la chapelle. Its apse contains paintings from 1850 as well as a painting depicting the martyrdom of Saint Bartholomew. The Eglise Saint Barthélémy dates back to the 15th century; its bell tower was added in 1555.
The communal washhouse in Chamaret was designed in an elegant classical architectural style. In addition, Chamaret has three washhouses dating from the 13th and 14th centuries that have survived to this day.
Landscape and Trails
The plateau, which covers approximately one third of the municipality of Chamaret, is wooded and dotted with dry-stone Bories built in different periods. Hiking trails around Chamaret lead through lush and wild natural surroundings with Bories and dry-stone huts. These huts formerly served as shelters for shepherds.
The “Découverte du village” activity offers a free historical walking tour of Chamaret every Wednesday. Two routes of 3 or 7 kilometres are available, and the walking time is approximately two hours.
Market and Festival
Every Friday morning, a Provençal market with colourful stalls takes place on Chamaret’s village square. The festival Fête des haricots originated with the first bean harvest after the division of the municipality’s drained marshes in 1793 and continues to be celebrated on 24 August.
