Thoiry: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A prominent natural feature of Thoiry is Crêt de la Neige: the summit lies on the municipal boundary between Lélex and Thoiry, reaches an elevation of 1,720 metres, and is therefore the highest peak in the Jura massif in the Ain department. At the same time, Crêt de la Neige is located in the Haute-Chaîne du Jura National Nature Reserve.

Things to Do

The Voie verte de Thoiry is a combined walking and cycling path that runs along the southern edge of Thoiry. It follows a former railway line that has been converted for gentle mobility.

The short Balade Les Chênes circular walk follows a path through fields near a farm. Numerous oak trees grow along the route, including the oldest oak on the trail.

Balade le Marais takes hikers through fields and around farms on lightly trafficked paths and roads. The route also goes around the wetland and along the Ruisseau de Fenières stream. Information boards at the Marais de Fenières explain the wetland’s role in water retention, natural purification and regulating water runoff.

Culture

The historic site of Abbaye de Chezery, the Musée Barbier-Mueller museum and the Palais des Nations are located in the area around Thoiry. The Ancienne Abbaye de Saint-Claude monastery is also located in the wider regional surroundings of Thoiry.
