Culture and Local History

The Saint-Bois war memorial stands in the central square. It was inaugurated in 1920 and bears 11 engraved names. It also serves as a venue for patriotic ceremonies on 11 November and 8 May.

The church of Saint-Bois was inaugurated in 1869. Its three-bay nave is complemented by two side chapels. The stone wayside monuments include the Croix de Veyrin. The Croix de Crozet bears the same inscription, “1852, souvenir de Jubile”, as the Croix de Saint-Bois, while the Croix de Compignière bears the words “vers la joie, par la croix”.

The former Château de Châtillonnet in Saint-Bois now lies in ruins. A visible original tower and an original gate remain from the Château de Perrouzet; the castle is overgrown with vegetation. The dovecote of the Château de Perrouzet is the only relic that is still well preserved, while also remaining clearly visible and intact. The Crozet oven is considered the most remarkable of the four ovens in Saint-Bois.
