The Château de Saint-Bernard was built on the banks of the Saône in the 13th century and has been classified as a historic monument since 10 April 1997.

Culture and history
The garden of the Château de Saint-Bernard was created on two hectares in 2003. It has been open to the public since April 2008 and bears the French “Jardin remarquable” label.
From 1923 onwards, the Château de Saint-Bernard was home to Maurice Utrillo, Suzanne Valadon and André Utter; all three had a studio there.
The Benedictine nuns’ priory of Notre-Dame, known as the Priorat de la Bruyère, was founded in the 9th century; a cloister gallery from the first half of the 12th century has been preserved.
The surrounding area of Saint-Bernard is also home to the Château de Saint-André du Coing, the Les Tours de Lissieu historic monument and Mont d'Or mountain. The closed Artothèque du Centre d'Arts Plastiques de Villefranche-sur-Saône museum is also located nearby.

The Voie Bleue follows the towpath along the Saône through Saint-Bernard.
The “Jeu de piste à bicyclette pour enfants” is a 10-kilometre cycling treasure hunt for families, forming a circular route from Trévoux to Saint-Bernard and suitable for family outings.
Four themed walks under the title “L’eau et les hommes” are offered from Saint-Bernard, Trévoux, Parcieux and Civrieux. They focus on the stories of the Saône and the ponds.
