The Écopont de Péron restores ecological connectivity along the RD 884 and enables wildlife, including red deer, to cross between the Jura Massif and the Rhône Plain towards the Alps. Roe deer and wild boar have been observed most frequently at the Écopont de Péron; since 2021, the presence of red deer has increased significantly.

Culture

Péron's cultural heritage includes Bronze Age stones bearing cup marks, as well as numerous sites scattered throughout the municipality that indicate significant Gallo-Roman settlement.

The Discover Room is located in the former Auberge du Fleurier within the municipality of Péron and is an alternative, unique and unusual venue. Themed events are organised there throughout the year in cooperation with specialists. These events showcase works by local craftspeople, creatives, artists and independent cultural professionals.

Local

Depending on availability, the Verger Tiocan offers tastings and apple juice sales all year round; apples are available in season. As an orchard dedicated to preserving and reintroducing old regional fruit varieties, it covers 2.3 hectares with 360 trees, including 140 apple varieties, 40 pear varieties and several plum varieties. Guided tours are available on request or during events for children and groups of all ages, as well as for professionals and non-specialists. There is also a self-guided discovery trail with markers and explanatory panels.

Activities

The Voie verte Farges–Péron is a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists that connects Farges and Péron through a natural setting. It follows a former railway line and connects via shared-road sections to the Voie 10 de l’Ain and the Via Rhôna.

The Chalet de la Poutouille is a mountain refuge built in 1834 on an alpine farm in Péron at an altitude of 1,446 m, within the Réserve Naturelle Nationale de la Haute Chaîne du Jura, and is aimed particularly at mountain hikers. The Ecurie du Domaine de Thor in Péron offers Western-style riding lessons with school horses. The Montée du Gralet in Péron is listed as a recurring event in the municipal calendars for 2025 and 2026.
