Neyron: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Batterie de Sermenaz, also known as Fort de Neyron, was built between 1875 and 1887 as part of Lyon’s second defensive belt. Its buildings are comparatively well preserved today. The complex is located on Mont Goitron above the Canal de Miribel and offers views of Lyon and the Rhône upstream.

Culture and History
Today’s Église Saint-Didier in Neyron dates from the 10th century. Mass is held there approximately once a month.
The history of crossing the river includes Neyron’s cable ferry, which remained in operation until around 1940. The construction of the bridge at Miribel 700 metres upstream and the declining use of the islands made it redundant.
Nature and Landscape
The Rhône islands of Neyron form a wetland ecosystem. Willows, alders, poplars and reeds grow there; the wildlife includes fish and ducks, and herons can also occasionally be seen. The southern part of Neyron also includes part of the Grand Parc de Miribel-Jonage, which is bordered by the Canal de Miribel.
Getting Around
The Circuit du Fort in Neyron is a marked circular route and hiking trail. It is 4 km long, and approximately 80 minutes are allocated for the route. The trail passes through the landscapes of the Côtière naturelle and opens up panoramas of the Dombes plateau and the Rhône plain.
The Pop Corn Labyrinthe Lyon comprises 5 kilometres of paths through 4 hectares of maize; along the route, there are game stations for families or friends.
Transport Connections
The nearest SNCF railway station to Neyron is in Miribel. From there, direct trains reach Lyon Part-Dieu station in 10 minutes.
