Culture and History
The Abri de la Colombière is a classified natural site and is one of the important archaeological sites in the Ain département for researching prehistoric societies.
The Château de Thol has been listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments since 1927. The fortified complex dates from the 13th century, has a square layout and two towers, and features typical medieval military architecture.
The Château de la Tour has been partially protected as a historic monument since 27 July 2006. The protected area includes the château and the park, except for the modern pavilions. The Château de la Tour has four differently designed façades that combine symmetry and asymmetry.
The present-day Château de la Tour was built in the 19th century on a site that had been used since the Middle Ages and where a keep already stood.
The Chapelle d’Arthurieux Saint-Joachim et Sainte-Anne in Neuville-sur-Ain houses a 17th-century painting. It depicts Saint Anne, the Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew and Saint Mark.
In October 2020, the Château de Thol was reopened to the public for certain occasions, including the Night of the Castles and the European Archaeology Days.
Nature
Neuville-sur-Ain developed around the Ain and Suran rivers. The Ain is described as partly wild and partly calm, and is strongly influenced by hydroelectric power facilities.
Near Neuville-sur-Ain, the Suran has numerous meanders, disappears into the karst landscape in summer and spreads out in winter.
In the lower Ain valley, numerous active oxbow lakes, alluvial forests and dry grasslands are among the particularly noteworthy habitats.

A large entrance portico is visible from the pedestrian-accessible path connecting Neuville-sur-Ain and Poncin on the right bank of the Ain.
Crafts and Gastronomy
At the Moulin de Neuville, the new production campaign for walnut and hazelnut oil begins every year at the start of the year.
Brasserie La 13 offers the production, sale and tasting of craft-brewed beers and fermented drinks, as well as brewery tours. The family brewery was founded in Jujurieux in 2020 and has been based in Dompierre-sur-Veyle since 2024.
