Culture
The Église Notre-Dame-des-Marais in Montluel was built mainly during the 15th and 16th centuries. With the exception of the bell tower and the west façade, it is listed as a historic monument.
The Apothicairerie de Montluel in the town hospice was established in 1765 and remained in operation until 1942. It preserves carved wooden panelling from a former Jesuit pharmacy in Lyon, as well as a painted canvas ceiling. The apothecary also contains an 18th-century faience collection, extensive furnishings and a polychrome stone Pietà from the early 16th century, which was invoked during plague epidemics.
The Musée d’Art et d’Histoire Locale depicts life in Montluel, as well as farming and viticulture at the beginning of the 20th century.
The Tour Carrée is the only surviving remnant of Montluel’s medieval fortifications from the 12th century, which were demolished under Louis XVI. Today, it houses a permanent exhibition of old cameras and film technology.

Le Trésor de Montluel is a free, fun treasure hunt along a route through Montluel. It introduces the town’s most important sites, together with their stories and anecdotes. The activity is suitable for all age groups from 4 years upwards, lasts about one hour and follows a route approximately 2 km long.
The Circuit pédestre de la Côtière passes through the Cottey Valley, through forests and across the plateau between Pizay and Montluel. The circular route is freely accessible all year round.
