The Cibeins nature area is located in the municipalities of Misérieux, Ars-sur-Formans and Sainte-Euphémie and covers a total of 81 hectares. It consists of a mosaic landscape of forests, wetlands and meadows and is home to a diverse range of wildlife and plant life. This includes a wide variety of bird species as well as 11 known bat species. The black woodpecker and kingfisher are among the bird species mentioned, while the Bechstein's bat is one of the bat species.

Culture

The parish church of Saint-Martin is mentioned for the first time in 984. A likely reconstruction took place in the 16th century; from 1865 to 1868, it was extensively rebuilt and enlarged. Inside, it has rib vaults and a heraldic keystone above the apse.

The listed Château de Cibeins complex includes a park, an open-air theatre, a pond, a funerary chapel, an orangery and agricultural buildings. The funerary chapel is the private Baroque burial chapel of the Counts of Cibeins; it was built in 1707 and consecrated in 1718.

On 30 November 1918, the last descendant of the Cholier de Cibeins family symbolically sold her 53-hectare estate to the city of Lyon so that an agricultural school could be established there.

Activities

At Parc de Cibeins, you can walk or cycle all year round; fishing is also possible there in the shade of centuries-old trees. A fishing trail runs along the Formans and the Morbier in the municipalities of Misérieux, Toussieux and Sainte-Euphémie.
