Journans: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Chapelle Saint-Valérien overlooks Journans; from there, views extend over the village rooftops, the forest and the Bresse plain. Its choir and nave may date from the 12th or 13th century.

Dingues d'Art in Journans presents temporary exhibitions and works by around 40 artists. Julien Tiersot, a librarian at the Conservatoire de Paris, also regularly stayed at a family home in Journans and collected traditional songs and melodies from the villagers.

Nature

The Source de la Reyssouze rises at the foot of a wooded slope from a karst spring. At the Source de la Reyssouze, the water fills two basins before flowing through a 19th-century washhouse. It is considered a biodiversity area for salamanders, grey wagtails and white-throated dippers.

Hiking

“Journans – Les 4 clochers” is a signposted 12 km circular hiking route for walkers, starting in Journans. The “Vignoble de Journans et Belvédère du Mont Rignat” hike leads from Journans to the summit of Mont de Rignat and offers a 360-degree panorama over the Revermont.

Domaine de La Combes aux Rêves produces natural and sparkling wines; its vineyards are tended and harvested by hand. Chèvrerie du Mont Lovet traditionally produces goat cheese, including fresh, semi-dry and dry cheeses, as well as goat cheese bricks and goat tomme. The Brendel René cellar in Journans offers tastings of Cerdon and Bugey wines.
