Culture

The Church of Saint George has an overall Romanesque appearance. Its current bell tower was commissioned in 1869 and completed in 1874. The parish of Dompierre was originally under the patronage of Saint Peter and later under that of Saint George.

A dovecote in Dompierre-sur-Chalaronne was restored in 2018 and is already recorded in the Napoleonic land register of 1827. The territory of Dompierre-sur-Chalaronne and Saint-Étienne-sur-Chalaronne is also home to a former aqueduct crossing the Chalaronne.

Nature

The Chalaronne Valley is one of three important landscape units in Dompierre-sur-Chalaronne. The southern Chalaronne Valley features an open agricultural landscape with far-reaching views, including towards Beaujolais.

Trails

La Chalaronne Buissonnière is a 3.7-kilometre walking trail that offers the opportunity to discover the Chalaronne Valley. The Dombes tourist route crosses Dompierre-sur-Chalaronne from north to south and partly follows the RD66. It connects several tourist attractions in the Dombes.

A pétanque competition is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Fête d’Eté.
