Culture

The apse of the Church of Saint-Didier in Cormoranche-sur-Saône features five Romanesque round-arched arcades. The apse paintings in the Church of Saint-Didier are 14th-century works from the early Gothic period that follow the Romanesque tradition. They depict Christ in Majesty within a quatrefoil mandorla, accompanied by the twelve Apostles.

On 30 September 1982, the apse paintings in the Church of Saint-Didier were classified as a movable object protected under the designation of Monuments historiques.

The Château de Montportail was built in the 17th century and was intended to serve as a hunting station between Paris and the Italian island of Sardinia. The surviving remains include a central building with outbuildings and a section of the building at the northwestern corner; most of the château was destroyed around 1930.

Geographical setting

The Pont d’Arciat is a combined concrete and metal truss bridge with three pointed concrete piers. It is 264 metres long and 13 metres wide, connects the départements of Saône-et-Loire and Ain, and is open to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.
