Corbonod: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Corbonod is home to a church built in the Gothic style. Its bell tower was moved from its original position above the choir in 1721 and rebuilt in front of the entrance.

Culture

Most of the numerous gilded wooden statues are located in the choir of Corbonod church; among them is a statue of Saint Maurice, the church’s patron saint. Gallo-Roman remains have been discovered at several sites within the municipality of Corbonod.

The Croix de Famban is a wooden cross on Departmental Road 123 at an altitude of 1,250 metres, in the direction of the Col de la Biche.

Nature

The Grand Colombier reaches an altitude of 1,534 metres. The summit offers a 360-degree view; the mountain is accessible by car or bicycle and has numerous hiking opportunities. The Grand Colombier is also crossed by the GR9 and offers numerous opportunities for hiking, horseback riding and cycling. In 2017, it was designated an ENS by the Ain département.

Sur Lyand lies on the right bank of the Rhône and in the southern part of the Grand Colombier massif. It offers opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, as well as panoramic views of the Alps, Mont Blanc and three lakes.

The moderately difficult Boucle des Platières leads through the forests, over the ridges and across the alpine meadows of the Sur-Lyand / Grand Colombier Nordic area, offering numerous panoramic viewpoints. From the ridges of Sur-Lyand near the Griffe du Diable, there are views of the three Alpine lakes of Annecy, du Bourget and Léman.

Trails

The Cascade d’Eilloux loop leads to a waterfall in the hamlet of Eilloux and through the vineyards of Corbonod. The Sentier des Chevaliers de l'Altesse is a treasure hunt through the vineyards of Corbonod and the towns of Seyssel in the Ain and Haute-Savoie départements. Using a booklet, participants find markers, solve riddles and decipher a code.

Sur la piste d'envol des dinosaures is a fun orienteering course, particularly suitable for children, on the Sur Lyand plateau. Participants answer questions and find stations in order to discover the special features of the plateau.

The family-friendly Croix Famban loop starts at the Sur-Lyand cross-country skiing centre and leads across the Sur-Lyand plateau and its alpine meadows.

Winegrowing

The Maison Mollex wine-growing estate covers 20 hectares, is managed according to the principles of sustainable agriculture and belongs entirely to the Seyssel AOP. The native white grape varieties Altesse and Molette are cultivated on Rhône alluvial soils.
