History

The Château de Chazey-sur-Ain is a former castle complex founded in the 12th century by the Lords of Coligny. After a fire in the 15th century, Philibert II of Savoy had the château rebuilt. The present château comprises 41 rooms, is designed in the Neo-Gothic style, and preserves older structural elements such as the keep, kitchens, and chapel. It has been listed as a Monument historique since 18 February 1987.

Culture

The local history also includes smaller points of interest distributed throughout the town. The Notre-Dame de Grâce Chapel contains statues dating from the 16th to the 19th century. The cemetery next to the village church features beautiful tombs and carefully crafted wrought-iron ornaments.

The public park of the Château de Chazey-sur-Ain is open and accessible year-round. Location

The Parc du Cheval is five minutes from the exit of the A42 motorway and 15 minutes from Lyon’s Rocade Est. Lyon’s Rocade Est provides access to the A6 and A7 motorways.
