Chanoz-Châtenay combines a château with a history dating back to the Middle Ages. The château is located in the village; its construction phases date to the second half of the 15th century and the 19th century. Records from 1274 state that Hugon de Châtenay held his maison-forte de Chatenay as a fief from the Count of Savoy.

Culture and History
In the southern side-aisle area of the Église Saint-Martin, to the left of the pulpit, there is a statue of Saint Anthony. It depicts the saint with a book, a bell, a tau-shaped staff, a small pig and flames. The statue was restored in 2011.
In the northern chapel of the Église Saint-Martin is the 17th-century painting “Christ aux liens”. It is an oil painting on canvas with painted wood. “Christ aux liens” was restored from 2010 to 2012; the painting returned to the Église Saint-Martin on 18 January 2013. The painting “Vierge intercédant pour les âmes du Purgatoire” is also located there.
The intermunicipal exhibition “Villages d’hier et d’aujourd’hui au fil de la Veyle” presents postcards and family photographs relating to former work, trade and rural life in 18 municipalities, including Chanoz-Châtenay.

Chanoz-Châtenay belongs to the official geographical area of Crème de Bresse. The village also lies entirely within the official geographical area of Volaille de Bresse.
Getting Around
The mountain-biking loop “Randonnée VTT en Bords de Veyle” is 33.5 kilometres long and has a stated duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. It passes through Les Genillons in Chanoz-Châtenay; at an intersection, the route continues along an unpaved path.
Le Bois d'Alice provides electric bicycles for exploring the region.

La Maison Forte offers a comfortable, single-storey holiday accommodation measuring 98 m² in the former maison-forte of the château. It has been traditionally renovated and features exposed wooden beams and a brick wall in the living area.
