Ambérieux-en-Dombes is home to a medieval castle founded in the 12th century by the Lords of Villars and rebuilt in the 14th century.
The castle is open daily from 2 February to 31 December 2026. Guided tours are available for groups of eight or more people by reservation. The castle’s Carron keep offers panoramic views of the Dombes and the Beaujolais and Lyonnais mountains.

L’Escampette® is a 130 km cycling route along small country roads. An approximately 20 km section between Trévoux, Saint-Bernard, Ars-sur-Formans and Ambérieux-en-Dombes has already been developed and signposted.
A recreational cycling loop reaches the village of Ambérieux-en-Dombes after 17.5 km from Ars; according to the description, it is suitable for children aged eight to nine and over. The “Circuit nord – route de la Dombes” route has a designated route point at Montée Claude Donis in Ambérieux-en-Dombes.
