Wine and Winemaking Culture
Since the 1950s, Rhonéa Vacqueyras has brought together the expertise of more than 300 winegrowers to showcase the terroirs of Vacqueyras and Beaumes de Venise. The winery is located at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail and offers wine and walking experiences. Its activities include wine tastings, cellar tours, walks through the vineyards and oenology workshops.
Clos de Caveau also combines winegrowing with visitor activities: the vineyards are open to the public and feature a free wine-tourism trail. Upon request, Clos de Caveau organises private tours. The estate has practised organic farming for more than 30 years.
Nature and Trails
The Path through the Heart of Our Terroirs is an educational trail through vineyards and garrigue. Educational panels line the route, which also features an interpretive panel made of enamelled lava.
Culture and History
The Les vins du Troubadour winegrowers’ cooperative was built in 1956. On the western façade of the tower-like entrance structure is a ceramic depiction of the troubadour Rimbaud de Vacqueyras.
Cours Stassart was created in the 1830s by filling in the ditches of the village’s fortification walls.
Festivals and Tours
The Fête des Vins de Vacqueyras features a mobile tasting of Cru Vacqueyras in the streets of the old village. The festival was founded several decades ago, has become part of the local tradition and contributes to passing on winemaking culture in the Côtes-du-Rhône area.
L'Âme du Vin at Domaine de Montvac offers a tour exploring the secrets of winemaking and various ageing methods. The tour ends with a tasting of five cuvées.
At Domaines Aimé Arnoux, cellar tours and wine tastings are part of the visitor programme; a tour of the ageing tunnel is also available. Wine tastings are possible for groups of up to 10 people by prior arrangement.
