The Musée du vêtement Provençal is housed in a former oil mill built in 1772. The Musée Jean Aicard preserves furniture in the Louis XV and Louis XVI styles from the writer’s home. The collection also includes letters and photographs of the writer’s friends, including Mistral and Victor Hugo.

The Église Saint Michel Archange was built between the late 11th and early 12th centuries and combines Romanesque and Gothic stylistic elements. The Château des Forbin was looted and destroyed in 1578 during a peasant uprising. Jean Aicard had the ruins of the Château des Forbin classified as Monuments Historiques.

Nature and trails

The Esplanade de la Montjoie near the ruins of the Château des Forbin offers a panorama across the Gapeau Valley to the Maures and their highest point, Notre Dame des Anges (780 m).

The Chapelle Notre-Dame du Deffend can be reached from the Les Selves district via a steep path. It was built in the 17th century on the site of a sheepfold. Since 1674, the local population has made a pilgrimage to this chapel.

Traditions and dates

The Saint Loup tradition includes an Aïoli, first offered by a family from the village in 1905 and continued as a tradition to this day.

The Cérémonie des Apôtres takes place on 24 December at 5 p.m. It includes a torchlight procession. Twelve children from families in Solliès-Ville wear white albs.
