Solliès-Pont: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Château Forbin was built by the Forbin family at the beginning of the 16th century. Its walls are clad in brick, and it also features slate roofs and four round towers. After being renovated, Château Forbin became a cultural centre with two exhibition rooms, a courtyard of honour, a forecourt and a park.

Culture and history

The Église Saint Jean-Baptiste contains an organ built and installed by Joseph Callinet in 1845, which was classified as a historic monument in 1984. The church itself was rebuilt from 1729 onwards according to plans by Pierre Sénès, after the previous church collapsed in 1698.

The Chapelle Sainte-Christine dates back to the 11th century. Its forecourt offers a sweeping view of the horizon. The Chapelle Saint Roch contains numerous votive paintings created between 1840 and 1860 by the painter H. Allègre, who came from Solliès-Pont.

The Lavoir de Solliès-Pont was built in 1951 on the initiative of Georges Durando and his municipal council, and is located on Place du docteur Angot. Château de Solliès-Pont is generally not open to visitors; it can only be visited on Heritage Days.

Gardens and landscape

The Parc du Château is a botanical garden with centuries-old trees, an extensive palm collection, a lake and contemporary sculptures. The park is home to tree species planted in the 19th century, including holm oaks, Aleppo pines, hackberries, Chilean coconut palms and Canary Island date palms.

The lake in the Parc du Château was built in sandstone and is fed by a feeder canal branching off the Canal de l’Enclos, which draws its water from the Gapeau.

Two walking tours allow visitors to discover Solliès-Pont’s cultural heritage while strolling through its lanes.

Local speciality

The “violette de Solliès” fig, typical of Solliès-Pont, has its own AOP designation of origin.
